If you would have asked me in November of 2016, on the first Sunday I began serving at The Pointe Church, if I would ever go on to become the Music Director, I would have given you a resounding “no way!”. Although I had been praying for a way to become involved in the church, I had never truly considered using my musical ability as a tool for worship. In fact, up until that point I had never even played an instrument outside the comfort of my bedroom. It wasn’t until I felt a huge tug on my heart that I needed to take a leap of faith, and somehow, someway… God equipped me and the rest is history.
I look back on my journey in The Pointe’s Creative Arts ministry and I’m reminded of Asaph who, in 1 Chronicles, was elevated from a cymbal player to a prominent chief musician under David. But more than just a musician, Asaph was a mentor to those around him. He was not only committed to musical excellence, but whole-life worship of God. He left his legacy by investing in others and, in turn, helped shape the gold standard for leading worship even to this day. I strive to lead more like Asaph did each time I step on a platform.
I originally hail from the south side of Indianapolis and graduated from Franklin College in 2013 before moving up to Fort Wayne. I have been happily married to my wife, Britt, since August of 2017 and we have two wonderful children - a daughter, Briley, and a son, Barrett (Bear for short). I spend my days working as an IT Business Analyst for Sweetwater Sound and was selected as one of the top-40 emerging leaders in Northeast Indiana in 2020. In my free time I love watching sports, discovering new music, and playing video games with my family!
God truly does call us according to His purpose, we just have to attune our ears to hear His voice and be bold enough to step outside our comfort zone.
